FRSC TO SANCTION SPEED LIMITING DEVICE DEFAULTERS PLYING AUCHI-OKENE HIGHWAY

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Auchi, has called on motorists plying the Auchi-Okene Highway to install speed limiting device in their vehicles and comply with other road safety rules.
The FRSC Unit Commander in the area, Mr Moses Bature, made the call on Friday in Aviele while inspecting vehicles plying the Aviele axis of Auchi-Okene Highway. He warned that motorists who failed to install the device in their vehicles are liable to conviction, adding that mobile court had already been set up. He said that officers of the command had been deployed to the highway for daily patrol in order to ensure that motorists comply with existing traffic rules.
“Officers and men of the commission in partnership with the Nigerian Army and Nigeria Police have commenced routine inspection and enforcement of speed limiting device on the highway. “This is in line with the commission’s aim to secure lives and make sure only road-worthy vehicles ply the road.
All vehicles will be inspected. “Motorists with expired papers including driver licences, worn out tyres and those who violate traffic rules will have their vehicles impounded. “They will be taken to mobile court where they will be fined, depending on their offences,” he said.
The commander said that the routine inspection was in line with the commission’s mandate to ensure vehicles are road-worthy.
He said the commission had been sensitising motorists on the need to adhere to traffic rules to avert the dangers caused by excessive speeding.
