Ed Sheeran Signs Up to U.K.'s Red Nose Day Campaign

Ed Sheeran is throwing his support behind the U.K.’s Red Nose Day campaign to help raise money and awareness for children living in poverty.
The English singer and songwriter will be seen singing with children in Liberia in a video to be shown March 24 on the BBC's fundraising special, the Corporation reports.
“I’ll never forget the kids I met on this trip," Sheeran said, "when we sang together they were in such high spirits despite everything they’d been through."
Many of the kids he met at the Street Child Liberia project in Monrovia, the Liberian capital, were living on the streets and had been orphaned by the recent Ebola outbreak. The Street Child Liberia project uses funds raised by Red Nose Day to help provide vulnerable children a better future, return them to school and reunite them with family members.

Sheeran added, "It was an incredibly eye-opening experience and I'm really proud to support Comic Relief and see what they are doing to help these children have a better future."
The English singer, whose comeback tracks "Shape of You" and "Castle on the Hill" are currently 1-2 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart for a third successive week, is a longtime Red Nose Day champion. He partnered-up with Kermit the Frog on a super-cute performance of "Rainbow Connection" for the 2015 U.S. Red Nose Day Special and another time completed a challenge of dressing up in a red tutu to eat Japan’s grossest foods -- fermented bean and sea snails.
The U.K.-originating Red Nose Day has raised more than $1 billion globally since its launch in 1985, according to organizers Comic Relief. The U.S. leg of Red Nose Day will take place May 25 with NBC again committed to airing an all-star special.
