Winner of BBC sound of 2017 revealed

22 year old UK act Ray BLK has been
revealed as the BBC sound of 2017 . The
prestigious list which predicts an
underground artiste who will gain
prominence during the year in focus has
had worldwide superstars Adele and Sam
Smith as previous winners.
BLK whose full name is Building Living
Knowing competed against Rag ‘n’ Bone
Man, RAYE,Jorja Smith and Nadia Rose
who emerged 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th
respectively.
Asked how she feels about the honour,
BLK said: “Winning the BBC Sound Of
2017 has to be the most surprising thing
that’s happened to me thus far,” “I feel so
honoured to have topped the list this early
in my career and join such an incredible
alumni of winners” – she gushes on.
The BBC Sound Of 2017 list was
compiled by 170 music industry figures
from around the world. To be eligible,
contestants must not have been the
main artist on a UK top 20 track prior to
October 30 2016 and “must not already
be widely known by the UK general
public.”
