Nigerian artiste Obong Jayar makes The Fader list of new artistes to know in 2017

2017 seems to be the year for Nigerian artistes in diaspora. A few days after UK based act
Moelogo got a £250,000 pound grant from the British government and Skepta emerged the most nominated artiste at The Brit awards , another UK based Nigerian act Obong Jayar has made The Fader list of 13 artistes to know in 2017. Here’s what The Fader wrote about him:
“He appeared on my radar one day with a striking single, “Creeping.” His voice, which sounds like it came from deep within the earth, sways between soul and rap and on Home, what might be the dopest debut EP of 2016, minimalist and profound production allows his measured, weighty verses to smolder. It’s unlike anything I’ve heard before, but also grounded with a sagacity that sounds ageless. We could definitely use some wisdom in the coming year, which means we need more of Obongjayar’s powerful music ASAP. “
Jayar has been an underground rapper since 2011, doing tracks with with Falz protege Chyn and fastrising rapper Oba Lurge/Lil Lurge.
