Okocha Reveals Shocking Reason Why He Retired Early From Football


Former Super Eagles skipper, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha has revealed he retired football due to lack of playing time. The midfield maestro was a pleasure to watch and commands a lot of respect in the footballing world
Despite retiring from the game in 2008 after A successful career in Europe and on the national team. However, Okocha has opened up that he left the game
because he was getting less playing time and felt frustrated at his lack of game time.
The veteran revealed in a press conference: “I must confess that [not getting a lot of playing time] was one
of the main reasons why I retired from playing at a very young age, “I believe that it is not worth it to train from Monday to
Friday just to have 20 minutes on the pitch or sit on the bench on Saturday. I am very competitive.” Okocha’s nephew, Alex Iwobi has taken over from him
with identical dribbling skills and stunning displays for Arsenal and the Super Eagles.
